The capital should tap into its natural resources
and cultural and historical heritage, and diversify its unique tourism products
and services, said the municipal Culture, Sports and Tourism Department's deputy
director Mai Tien Dung at a workshop titled "Tourism Investment Promotion in Ha
Noi".
The number of foreign visitors to Hanoi in 2010 is
estimated at 1.2 million, up 18.42 percent against 2009, while the number of
domestic tourists to the city is expected to increase by 15.22 percent to 10.6
million.
Hanoi is preparing for Tet by transforming the
headquarters into a place of lights and decorations.
Hanoi will prioritize the development of cultural
and eco-tourism in the coming years, Mr. Mai Tiến Dũng, Vice Director of the
municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said at a tourism promotion
conference on December 17.
A seminar on tourism development and investment
promotion was held by Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Hanoi
on December 17.
On November 17th, at the Hanoi Museum, Hanoi’s
Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold a conference to introduce
the city’s tourism potentials and call for investment in tourism, with the
participation of around 200 delegates from businesses, relevant agencies and
Japanese investors.
The Xuan Que Huong (Homeland Spring) programme is
scheduled to take place in Thang Long Royal Citadel, Hanoi on January 28, 2011

The Hanoi Buddhist Sangha held an incense offering
to King-Monk Tran Nhan Tong, the founder of Vietnam Zen Buddhism, in
commemoration of his 702nd death anniversary at Ba Da pagoda on December 5.
The National Fine Arts Exhibition 2010
representing Viet Nam's fine arts industry will open at the Viet Nam Exhibition
Centre for Culture and Arts in Ha Noi on December 1.
A ceremony commemorating the 125th anniversary of
the death of historian Pham Than Duat (1825-85) was held at Ha Noi's Literature
Temple on Monday, honouring his great contributions to Vietnamese people's
revolution against the French colonialists.
Paintings, engravings, sculptures, photos, videos,
and installations showcasing Hanoi are on show at an exhibition that opened in
the Vietnamese capital Thursday.
For the first time, 250-300 contestants will
represent all 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam to perform their traditional clothing
in Hanoi next February.
Hanoi's Old Quarter is hosting a tea ceremony and
an exhibition of vintage timepieces until Nov. 27, as well as a discussion of
traditional culture in the capital city.
It is a concern of many people and tourists who
are interested in Hanoi old quarters and Ta Hien Street in particular when the
Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board started the Ta Hien Street improvement
project in November 11.
The Hanoi Department of Architectural Planning
will soon submit a draft regulation on managing the French Quarter in Hanoi to
the municipal People’s Committee.
