The Director of UNESCO’s World Heritage Centre, Kishore Rao, has
highlighted the efforts made by Hanoi to preserve the ancient royal citadel of
Thang Long.
The third International Puppetry Festival opened in Hanoi at 8pm
on September 4. The festival will last until September 10.
Culinary art is one of the most interesting things for visitors’
discovery in Hanoi. The city’s most famous cuisine is Pho (noodle) but there are
many other cuisines that visitors should not miss to taste.
The first ever Hanoi Carnival 2012 is underway in Indochina Plaza

Hanoi Carnival 2012 will take place on 25 and 26 August 2012, at
Indochina Plaza at 239 Xuan Thuy Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi.
Ancient and priceless documents belonging to the Nguyen Dynasty,
dating back hundreds of years and written on ‘Do’ paper, will be on display in
Hanoi from August 15 to December 31 this year.
Hotel developers are experiencing the dark days in their
business. The lower number of guests, low occupancy rate and decreasing revenues
have all caused headaches for them.
Developing amusement centers in both the inner city and the
suburbs comes high on the list of priority works mentioned in the capital city
tourism program by 2020.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has approved Hanoi to
host the International Tourism Expo (ITE) Vietnam, better known as ITE HCMC,
next year and recommended the capital and HCMC take turn to organize this
tourism event. However, the HCMC Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism,
creator and organizer of the event, has shown strong opposition to the decision.
A selection of 145 films from 25 domestic and 42 overseas studios
will be shown at the sixth Vietnam International Cinema, Television and Sports
and Tourism (FICTS) Festival, which will take place in Hanoi from July 4-7.
Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, has topped the list of
cheapest global tourist destinations in 2012 summertime, according to the Trip
Index recently announced by the world’s largest travel website ‘TripAdvisor.’
A “Xuan Que Huong 2012” (Homeland Spring) programme for overseas
Vietnamese returning home to welcome the traditional Lunar New Year festival (Tet)
will be held at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi on January
15.
