Ho Chi Minh City welcomed more than 325,000
international visitors during the Lunar New Year Festival 2011.
The Saigontourist Holding Company yesterday
organised a closing ceremony for Nguyen Hue Flower Street which opened during
the Tet (Lunar New Year) Festival.
To meet people's entertainment needs during the
Lunar New Year (Tet), Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) government and related departments
are preparing a range of cultural activities to welcome the Year of the Cat.
A tourism park with a strong cultural theme is
being built in time for Tet (lunar New Year) in HCM City's suburban Cu Chi
district.
The number of foreign visitors to Ho Chi Minh City
in January, 2011 is estimated to reach 310,000 arrivals, 10 percent higher than
the same period in 2010, announced HCM City’s Department of Culture, Sports and
Tourism.
HCM City’s residents, travel firms and local
authorities all have agreed that it is necessary to develop waterway tourism.
However, they still do not know what and how to develop.
Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism sector has launched a
river tour from the Bach Dang River Port to the Ham Long Trade Village in Long
Thach My Ward, District 2, to attract more tourists to the City.
The Saigon Travel Service Company (Saigontourist)
received and provided services for 1.9 million tourist arrivals, earning a
revenue of more than VND 9.46 trillion in 2010, it reported in a review meeting
in Ho Chi Minh City on January 20.
Saigontourist Travel Service announced its aim to
receive 2.1 million travellers in 2011 and promote its brand name and services
at its 2010 review meeting in HCM City on January 20.
The HCM City People's Committee has assigned local
tour company Saigontourist Holding Company and other administrative agencies to
organise the Tet Tan Mao (Lunar New Year of the Cat) Festival in the city's
downtown.
The dragon, lion dance festival will be held at
the Lanh Binh Thanh sports complex in Ho Chi Minh City from January 26-28.
The Saigon Travel Service Company (Saigontourist)
welcomed 300 overseas tourists and crew sailing aboard the cruise liner Princess
Daphne, which docked at Saigon port in Ho Chi Minh City on Jan. 15.
The first Viet Nam Beer Festival organized by the
Mekong Star JSC will attempt to break a beer drinking record in HCM City later
this month.
Saigontourist Travel Service Co has announced a
four-day tour to Nha Trang from HCM City which includes a yacht tour in Nha
Trang on board the four-star yacht King.
Saigontourist Holding Company will launch more
products for upper-class guests and those coming to Vietnam for MICE and
shopping purposes in the next five years as part of its plan to achieve higher
revenue.
