HCMC, the country’s biggest tourism center, has
selected a new logo and slogan for its tourism sector, which is designed by an
Australian company.
The HCM City Cultural Heritage Department, the HCM
City Academy of Music and HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism
held international press briefs on January 4 to announce a seminar on “Don ca
tai tu” (southern amateur music).
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports
and Tourism and the municipal Tourism Association held a ceremony on Jan. 1 to
welcome first foreign visitors to the city in 2011.
Located in the country's key southern economic
zone, tourism is one of Ho Chi Minh City's (HCMC) strength besides its rapid
economic growth in trade and industry.
People in Vietnam’s biggest economic hub, Ho Chi
Minh City, have been welcoming the new year since December 26, 2010.
The fourth ornamental tree festival 2010 is being
held in the Suoi Tien Tourist Area, Ho Chi Minh City from December 22 to January
3, 2011.
HCM City’s 3 millionth foreign visitor arrived in
Tan Son Nhat International Airport at 8.30 am, December 21, on a flight from
Moscow.
Ho Chi Minh City Youth’s Cultural House has mapped
out numerous cultural activities to welcome in the New Year from December 24 to
31, according to the head of the Event Planning Service Department of the
Youth’s Cultural House, Nguyen Hong Phuc.
The number of Chinese visitors to Ho Chi Minh City
in the first 11 months of this year rose by 189 percent over the same period of
last year, according to the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The five-star Majestic Hotel in downtown HCMC is
working on a plan to spur electronic transactions next year to facilitate its
business expansion, the hotel’s general director said.
Ho Chi Minh City is bustling with preparations to
bring in the festive season.
The number of Chinese tourists taking tours to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) by air increased 89% compared to last year’s figure, bringing them to the top of the list of foreign arrivals in HCMC for the first time; according to HCMC’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
Vietnam’s leading tourism company Saigontourist
said it is looking for Japanese partners to invest in the development of 12 new
hotels and tourism complexes.
The hub of Vietnam’s tourism, HCMC, will launch a
month-long promotion for visitors to the city with attractive discounts from
December 15 to January 15.
The festival will take place within a week at HCM
City’s 23/9 Park from December 26, 2010 through January 2, 2011.
