A seminar aimed at seeking ways to realise the tourism potential
of Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO-recognised World Heritage, was held in northeastern
Quang Ninh province as part of the Ha Long Tourism Week 2012 for European
visitors.
The unique practice of worshipping Hung kings in Vietnam will be
one of 35 pieces of intangible heritage submitted for recognition at the seventh
session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of
Intangible Cultural Heritage, which will be held in Paris on December 3-7.
Tour operators in HCM City have begun to launch travel promotions
to welcome the Christmas and New Year 2013 holidays.
Located 50 km from Ha Long city, the island district of Van Don,
consisting of more than 600 islands and islets, owns a cultural heritage
treasure - traces of prehistoric man – as well as regional cultural heritage,
and national historical and cultural relics.
Since being recognized as one of the 30 most beautiful bays in
the world in 2009, Lang Co Bay has become a very popular stop for both
international and local tourists.
The peak season of inbound tourism has arrived, yet many tour
operators have not recorded growths in international tourist arrivals.
Vietnam Airlines (VNA) will next month open two more new services
from HCMC to Jakarta and from Hanoi to Phu Quoc while many tourism companies are
racing to introduce promotion package tours at home.
In the framework of Environmentally and Socially Responsible
Tourism Capacity Development Programme (known as the ESRT Programme, funded by
the European Union), on November 27th, 2012, the inaugural meeting of the
Tourism Advisory Board (TAB) was held in Hanoi.
UNESCO, the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Food
and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have just organized a workshop on sustainable
tourism in Hoi An with an aim to offer higher benefits to local craft villages.
Museums in Viet Nam are not appealing enough for tourists,
resulting in them being bypassed by agencies organising visitor tours, experts
said at a workshop on museum and heritage tourism in the capital on Wednesday
(November 21).
The central province of Quang Nam has great potential in history,

heritage sites and the world biosphere reserve of the Cham Islands, to promote

22).
An art contest, World Heritage in Your Hands, has been launched
nationwide to celebrate Vietnam's National Day for Heritage and 40 years of the
World Heritage convention.
Thousands of spectators on either banks of the Hau River, a
tributary of the Mekong, cheered wildly as some 50 teams from several Mekong
Delta provinces vied with each other to win the Ngo Boat Race held in Soc Trang
Province yesterday.
