The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on April 26, opened
an exhibition of flowers and held a referendum on choosing national flowers in
the central city of Da Nang.
With the theme “Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa: Civilized and
Hospitality”, the Nha Trang Sea Festival 2011, will take place from June 11-15
in Nha Trang City. The festival will have one day event for Truong Sa (Spratly)
Archipelago.
Though the multi-colored star and the slogan "Viet Nam- A
Different Orient" got the first prize in the competition on composing logos and
slogans for Vietnam’s tourism, they were not chosen by the Vietnam National
Administration of Tourism (VNAT) as the new slogan for Vietnam’s tourism in the
new development period.
The People’s Committee of Ba Vi District launched a travelling
season under the theme “Ba Vi Tourism – Destination of 2011” in Ao Vua Resort
last Saturday in the presence of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Vice-Chairperson of
the People’s Committee of Ha Noi.
Airlines in the Asia-Pacific region will grow strongly in the
next few years but air transport in Europe is likely to stagnate, the outgoing
head of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said on Friday.
Travel companies have said that the average room rate at three-
to five-star hotels in Ho Chi Minh City has fallen by 10% in this low season for

The 2011 Thap Ba Ponagar Festival officially opened in Nha Trang
City in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa on April 23rd, with the
participation of more than 40,000 pilgrims of over 100 delegations from
surrounding provinces.
The number of visitors who have booked tours for the upcoming
Liberation Day (April 30th) and Labour Day (May 1st) holidays have increased by
12% to 30%, compared to the same period last year, said some large travel
agencies, such as Saigontourist, Vietravel and Fiditour.
All domestic flights between big cities during the upcoming
Liberation Day (April 30th) and Labour Day (May 1st) holidays are fully booked
while prices of other means of transport have increased.
Vietnamese ambassador to Russia Bui Dinh Dinh attended the
International Air-Transport Forum in the Ulyanovsk region, Russia on April 22
and 23 together with Russian authorities, leaders of aviation corporations and
experts from around the world.
The central coastal city of Danang is preparing for the 2010
International Fireworks Competition on April 30 and May 1, which is seen as a
new, attractive tourist product.
The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines, and some other Asian
airlines will increase their flights to and from Vietnam in their summer
schedules.
Vietnam has been working on a dossier of Xoan singing, a folk
strain of northern Phu Tho province, to be submitted to UNESCO for recognition
as an “Intangible Cultural Heritage in need of Urgent Protection”.
