The cultural exchange festival Global Village 2011
took place in Ho Chi Minh City on March 20.
The choir team from Diponenegoro University of
Indonesia won the first ever Vietnam International Choir Festival that finished
on Saturday, March 19.
At a conference assessing the implementation of
the master plan to develop Vietnamese tourism from 2005-2010 held by the
Institute of Tourism Development Studies (ITDS), insiders said that the tourism
sector has made active contributions to the country's socio-economic
development.
The international sailing festival wrapped up on
Sunday night at the five-star Sea Links Beach Hotel in Phan Thiet City.
Vietnam and its people are being introduced at an
international week and film festival in Malaysia from March 21-25. The week-long
event has been organised by Malaysia University in collaboration with embassies
of those countries whose languages are taught at Malaysia University.
Many travel companies in the country plan to
increase the price of local tours by 15–20 per cent, following the rise in
prices of many tourist services such as transport and accommodations.
Co-ordinated efforts by the Government, local and
tourism authorities, and the travel industry are needed to develop a strong
brand for Vietnamese coastal tourism, experts have said.
Four Vietnamese tourist companies - La Palanche
Voyages, Luxury Travel, Vietnam Originale and Cle Voyage - joined in the 2011 Le
Monde à Paris (MAP) International Tourism Fair from March 17-20.
Many Vietnamese passengers complained that despite
having to struggle to get air tickets for flights from Japan to Hanoi, the
flights turned out to have idle seats.
The death anniversary of King Hung (Gio to Hung
Vuong) will be held from April 7-12 (March 5-10 lunar calendar) on an area
spreading from Viet Tri City in Phu Tho District till the coastal commune of the
Hung temple monuments.

international tourists have chosen the central region of Vietnam as a favourite
travel destination.
An international stone sculpture composing camp
will open in the Southcentral Coastal province of Ninh Thuan on April 16, says
the Ninh Thuan provincial Department for Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The number of Korean tourists to Vietnam has
increased considerably over the past 10 years, from 53,000 in 2000 to 5 million
in 2010, up 230 percent, according to Hoang Thi Diep, Deputy Director General of
the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).
The earthquake and tsunami in Japan has led to a
series of tours to Vietnam having been canceled. Meanwhile, Vietnamese travel
firms say no traveler has called to cancel tours to Japan.
In 2011, the national plan to develop Vietnam’s
tourism industry will highlight island and sea attractions.
