Vietnam tourism authorities have decided to adopt
a 10-year plan to try and attract rich tourists to its sparkling white beaches.
Vietnam attributed part of its success in
potentially attracting over 5 million foreign arrivals this year -- against its
original target of 4.2 million -- to a destination image promotion.
Vietnam Airlines will welcome the 12 millionth
passenger at Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi next week, thus fulfilling its annual
target for this year days earlier, said the southern regional office of the
national flag carrier.
Viet Nam should carry out a long-term campaign to
conserve and develop folk festivals because people from industrialised countries
are fascinated by culture of agricultural societies, experts say.
Many travel agencies have introduced interesting
domestic and foreign tours to meet higher demands of tourists during Christmas
and the New Year holidays.

The price of Tet or Lunar New Year tours are set
to jump by up to 10 percent, forecast tour operators.
The Vietnam Administration of Tourism has been
organising road-show programs in Singapore and Malaysia to promote Vietnam’s
tourism abroad.
Another flight departing from Russia’s Khabarovsk
is scheduled to land in Cam Ranh international airport in the south central city
of Nha Trang and take off at 14:45 on December 16.
An International seminar on developing destination
trademarks was held in Hanoi on December 16, attracting representatives from the
Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the World Tourism Organization.
Surrounded by gentle hills and scenic areas, the
highland city of Da Lat is still home to intriguing beauty in spite of the
growing population, the rise in modern architecture and the number of tourists,
said Nhat Ha.
Although it set a target of attracting 4.2 million
foreign visitors in 2010 the Vietnam tourism sector welcomed more than 4.2
million foreign visitors in the first 11 months of this year and is expected to
receive about five million foreign visitors this year.
