An annual festival that features the cultural colours of
Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups through their New Year celebrations will take place
at the Culture Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups in Hanoi from
February 15-17.
The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong’s Da Lat city, which
is famous for its charming and romantic landscapes and architecture, and lovers’
first choice on Valentine’s Day, has planned various festivals to welcome the
couples on February 14.
International tourist arrivals grew by 5% in 2013, reaching a
record 1,087 million arrivals, according to the latest UNWTO World Tourism
Barometer.
Hanoi has so far welcomed over 2.6 million domestic and foreign
arrivals during the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday that began on
January 27 and will end on February 9.
Visitors to the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology on February 8-9 have
a chance to discover the culture of the country’s ethnic groups through a series

The provinces of Lam Dong, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai and Kon Tum
have joined hands to develop infrastructure and design various kinds of tours to
popularise regional culture to serve the 2014 national tourism year, themed
“Central Highlands, Great Jungle”.
The 12th Vietnamese Poetry Day is scheduled to take place at the
Temple of Literature in Hanoi on February 14 (the 15th day of the first lunar
month).
A group of 22 Chinese tourists has visited craft villages in
Quang Yen town in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
A direct air route from the Da Nang Airport to Japan’s Narita
Airport will be launched in July, the deputy director of the foreign affairs
department of Vietnam Airlines, Mai Dang Hieu, confirmed on January 17.
A specialised area selling stone sculptures from the Non Nuoc
stone carving village in Da Nang was officially opened on 1 January 2014.
As many as 450 domestic and international tourism companies will attend an international tourism fair at Hanoi’s Vietnam Exhibition Fair Centre from April 3–6.
Local and foreign visitors have a variety of domestic tour
options during the Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet.
The Thua Thien-Hue Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in
association with Asia Fellow Traveller Tourism Limited Company in Hue, has
received a famtrip from Indonesia to survey tourism in the city.
The Ho Chi Minh city group for domestic tourism stimulus
programme has reported that it sold more than 34,000 air tickets in 2013, a 115
percent rise from the previous year.
Vietnam welcomed 250,000 Russian visitors last year, an increase
of 71 percent compared to 2012. .
