The Week of Ha Long Tourism 2011 will be the
biggest ever, with a series of festivities in support of the superb bay’s bid
for the New7Wonders title this year.
Quang Ninh’s largest ever tourism festival, the Ha
Long – Quang Ninh Tourism Week, was kicked off on April 1.
The Republic of Korea (RoK) and Vietnam will set
up a website for Jeju (RoK) and Ha Long Bay (Vietnam), according to the
International Cooperation Bureau under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and
Tourism.
The Halong – Quang Ninh tourism week will be held
between April 28 and May 2 in the Tuan Chau Tourism Area with eventful and
attractive cultural, sport and tourism events.
Northern Quang Ninh Province authorities have
inspected 135 of the 151 tourist ships for overnight stays on Ha Long Bay.
A special video tape promoting Ha Long Bay will be
aired in two performances by Backstreet Boys in Vietnam this month.
The Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee has
implemented many measures to ensure the safety for all cruise tourists while
visiting Ha Long Bay.
Up to 885,200 tourists flocked to the northern
province of Quang Ninh during February this year, representing a year-on-year
increase of 8 percent.

Quang Ninh Province in collaboration with
Saigontourist and Tan Hong Tourism Company planned to receive 4 high-class
tourist cruise vessels between February 28th and March 3rd, according to the
Provincial Culture, Sports and Tourism Department.
Relevant agencies in Quang Ninh province have
inspected 135 travel boats licensed to work in Ha Long Bay and found technical
errors on the boats.
The People's Committee of northern Quang Ninh
Province is considering tightening regulations for boats staying overnight in Ha
Long Bay, with vessels not meeting standards banned from operating, said deputy
chairman of the committee Dang Huy Hau.
The campaign to collect votes for Ha Long Bay to
be recognised as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World in November this year is
entering the final stages, said an official from the Ministry of Culture, Sports
and Tourism.
The Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee has
established an inspection team to check all the cruise boats operating on Ha
Long Bay.
The captain and the chief mechanic of the sunken
Truong Hai 06 are being held in custody for investigation.
