International tourists flock to southern cities
The Bermuda-flagged cruise
ship, the Diamond Princess, dropped anchor at the PTSC Phu My Port on March 11,
bringing 2,600 foreign tourists and a 1,100-strong crew from Thailand to
southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
During their one-day stay, the passengers visited the oil-rich city of Vung Tau
and saw the sights on offer at Ho Chi Minh City before continuing their voyage
to Cambodia.
As scheduled, the Diamond Princess will return to Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on
March 18 to visit other tourist hotspots in Vietnam’s southern region.
On March 6, the province received around 2,350 international tourists and crew
on board the five-star vessel, Legend of the Seas.
A PTSC Phu My Port official said that two luxury international cruise liners are
also registered for tours to Vung Tau city and Ho Chi Minh City on March 14 and
17.
They are the UK-flagged Queen Victoria, with more than 3,000 passengers and crew
on board, and the Azcadia, from Bermuda, with a complement of 2,700 tourists and
crew.
