“Vietnamese stamp” exhibition takes place in Hungary
An exhibition, “Vietnam stamp”, will take place at József Attila
Cultural Centre, District XIII, Budapest, from September 2nd to 7th by the
Hungary–Vietnam Friendship Association on the occasion of Vietnam’s National Day
(September 2nd).
The exhibition, under the auspices of the Hungarian Stamp Collectors’
Association and Körmend City Stamp Collectors’ Association, will introduce
around 800 stamps from different periods of Vietnamese history.
The sets of stamps on display belong to Dr. Déri Miklós, 80, a Hungarian war
veteran in Vietnam, who once witnessed the withdrawal of the last American
soldiers out of Vietnam on March 29th, 1973.
Dr. Miklos, now Director of the Hungary-Vietnam Friendly Association, and his
wife have visited Vietnam many times and had many meaningful activities to
contribute to the friendly relations between the two countries. For his
contributions to Vietnam and its people, Dr Déri Miklós, he was presented with a
Friendship Medal.
These sets of stamps have been introduced at many exhibitions in Hungary and are
regarded as a chronicle of Vietnam, its people as well as Vietnamese struggles
to defend independence.
