Vietnamese in Russia celebrate National Day

The Vietnamese community in Russia held the final matches of their 2011 football tournament in southern Moscow on August 28.
The Vietnamese ambassador to Russia, Pham Xuan Son, representatives of the Vietnamese Students Association and other Vietnamese organizations in Russia, as well as Vietnamese business people in Moscow, attended the event.
After fierce play-off competition, the teams from Song La-Ha Tinh and the Moscow Trade Centre qualified for the final, where Moscow Trade Centre defeated its rival 1-0. The Hung Yen Fellowmen Association team finished in third place.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Ambassador Son reaffirmed that the tournament was a success thanks to the concerted efforts by the Vietnamese community in Russia.
He said that the tournament is a healthy and open venue for overseas Vietnamese in Russia to get to know each other better.
Overseas Vietnamese in Moscow also held a golf tournament on August 27.
