Russians soak up Khanh Hoa

More than 20,000 Russian visitors have toured Khanh Hoa Province this year, arriving on chartered flights via Cam Ranh Airport.
Nguyen Van Thanh, director of the province's Tourism Promotion Centre, said the increase in the number of charter flights had attracted more tourists from major cities in Russia to the province, where the beach city of Nha Trang is located.
This month, the HCM City-based Anh Duong Tourism Company signed a contract with the Russian travel agency Pegas Touristik to take 180 Russian guests to Khanh Hoa per day on charter flights via Cam Ranh Airport between October 2011 and May 2012.
Beginning last December, the Ha Noi-based Nhat Minh Tourism Company has worked with Russia's Vladivostok Air to launch two charter flights that take 280 visitors to Khanh Hoa per week.
With the province welcoming more than 1,000 Russian tourists each week, the area is in dire need of more tour guides who can speak Russian, said Thanh.
