Italian airlines seeks cooperation with Vietnam
Rome-based Alitalia Aviation
Group is considering cooperating with Vietnam Airlines in developing air routes
to Europe and Asia .
Alitalia President Roberto Colaninno said he would discuss the project in detail
with potential Vietnamese partners in the coming time.
According to the ‘Il Messaggero’ daily, Alitalia has selected Vietnam Airlines
as its partner in Asia because of the carrier’s ambition to operate in Italy .
Additionally, Vietnam is an emerging economy with strong economic development,
attracting particular attention from the Italian business circle in recent
years.
The ANSA Italian News Agency said that during his visit to Vietnam in November
2008, Italian Minister of Economic Development Claudio Scajola mentioned the
issue with the Vietnamese side and received positive feedback.
Alitalia might also cooperate with Indochina Airline, the first private aviation
firm in Vietnam , that has been operating for two months and has yet not
implemented a direct route between Italy and Vietnam , the news agency said.
