First international tea fest to be held in northern Vietnam
The first International Tea Festival will be held in the northern
province of Thai Nguyen from November 11 to 15, organizers announced at a press
conference Wednesday.
The festival will feature a seminar on Vietnamese tea integrating into the
international market, a parade, a tea culture festival, a cuisine and specialty
market and other artistic activities.
A new national record, the biggest tea pot in Vietnam, will be displayed at the
festival.
A tea night of 300 tea tables will receive the largest number of visitors at the
town’s "20/8" square.
During the event, local travel companies will offer several tours of the
province.
At least seven countries importing Vietnamese tea - China, India, Korea, Sri
Lanka, Japan, Laos and Russia will join the five-day event expected to receive
400,000 visitors.
Vietnam, the world’s fifth leading tea exporter, has a strong tea culture dating
back over 3,000 years.
Tea is one of the country’s 16 leading exported agricultural products, according
to the Vietnam Tea Association.
