European foods festival opens in HCM City

As many as 30 special dishes and drinks from 20 European businesses and trade offices in Vietnam were featured at the 6 th European culinary festival in Ho Chi Minh City on September 8.
Visitors to the event enjoyed Greek salad, Spanish lamb and fried seafood rice and Vermeer cheese from FrieslandCampina Vietnam, which triumphed at the 2012 World Championship Cheese Contest in the US.
European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) representative Kristof Claes said the festival is an important event that contributes to strengthening diplomatic ties, economic cooperation and cultural exchange between Europe and Vietnam as well as helps to promote the two sides’ commitments for mutual sustainable development.
Meanwhile, an organic food festival with 50 stands from businesses, restaurants and hotels in the southern localities will also be held in the city from September 11-14.
The event will showcase green materials and products along with some programmes providing useful information for consumers.
It aims to raise the public's awareness of protecting their health, as well as the environment, by consuming organic food.
