Traditional Vietnamese music performed in France
A performance of traditional Vietnamese music and songs took
place at the headquarters of the UN Education, Scientific and Cultural
Organisation (UNESCO) in France on September 20 to promote the country’s image
to the overseas Vietnamese community.
The programme, themed ‘ Vietnam -My country’, was co-organised by Vietnam
Airlines office in France and Europe and Vietnam’s cultural centre in France ,
under the sponsorship of the Vietnamese Embassy in France .
It featured traditional folksongs, music and dance from different cultures
nationwide using instruments such as bamboo flutes, mono-chords, two-chord
fiddles and the Klong put.
Speaking at the event, General Director of Vietnam Airlines office in France Le
Dung said that to bring Vietnamese culture to the world, the national flag
carrier has held many activities to promote Vietnam ’s traditional arts to
foreign friends and the Vietnamese community in France. This has contributed to
boosting cultural ties between both countries, attracted more tourists to
Vietnam , as well as strengthened the attachment between overseas Vietnamese and
their homeland.
Many people in the audience said that they enjoy the performance and now
understand more about Vietnamese culture, from the north to the south of the
country.
