First Japan-funded farm shop opens
The first farm shop funded by Japan International Cooperation
Agency (JICA) opened at Binh An rest stop, Quang Nam province on January 31 as a
part of a project to develop the local economy by selling farm produce at
roadside stations.
The rest stop includes a group of restaurants and shops selling 50 kinds of
produces from Quang Nam province, together with some Japanese specialities. It
is the first shop in Vietnam to follow the “shop in shop” model with experience
learnt from Minhamiboso city.
The station provides information, supports local economic development, and
serves as a shelter for passengers and residents during bad weather.
