Ha Giang seeks Hanoi’s help to promote tourism
The northern mountainous province of Ha Giang has forged links
with the capital city of Hanoi with the aim of promoting its tourism to more
customers.
The cooperation since 2011 has brought positive results, reflecting in an
increasing number of tourists visiting the Ha Giang, said deputy director of Ha
Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DCST) Nguyen Thi Toan.
Hanoi’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has distributed information
about Ha Giang on its website and publications, as well as through the network
of tourist information kiosks in the capital city. The department also regularly
provides Ha Giang with the latest information on the tourism market.
The two sides have joined hands to launch tours that highlight the unique
features of the Northeastern region. Around 20 Hanoi-based travel firms have
signed agreements with Ha Giang to bring visitors to the Dong Van Stone Plateau,
which is a World Geological Park, and other destinations in the province.
They also organised exchanges to share experience in tourism management and
human resources training.
Experts in the field also underscored the significance of enhancing links and
mutual support between localities nationwide in order to fully exploit the
advantage of each region.
Last year, Ha Giang welcomed 380,000 visitors, including 90,000 foreigners, up
15 percent on an annual basis. The number increased to 240,000 in the first six
months of 2013..
