Vietnam to develop six int’l standard tourist destinations
Sea Tourism in the country must see the development of at least
six very attractive tourist sites to be able to compete with other neighboring
nations, according to a project themed ‘Developing Vietnam’s Sea and Island and
Coastal Tourism by 2020’.
Vietnam has more than 3,000 islands and 125 beaches along a 3,000km coastline,
stretching from the North to the South, presenting a huge potential for the
growth of sea tourism.
However, about 30 beaches and 10 islands have not yet been developed for tourism
purposes.
The project focuses on six destinations to be exploited, namely, Ha Long-Bai Tu
Long-Cat Ba; Lang Co-Canh Duong; Hoi An-Cu Lao Cham; Nha Trang-Cam Ranh; Phan
Thiet-Mui Ne; and Phu Quoc; together with tourism ports in Ha Long, Da Nang, Nha
Trang , Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc.
Vietnam’s tourism industry must attract around 22 million international
visitors, 58 million local travelers by 2020 and reach a target of US$10 billion
that will create 600,000 direct jobs and 1.1 million indirect jobs.
The industry needs a total capital development investment of US$5.57 billion
from now until 2015 and US$7.08 billion by 2020..
