Foreign art troupes register for Festival Hue 2014
Sixteen art troupes representing 11 countries and international
organisations have registered to participate in the biennial Festival Hue next
year.
The 2014 festival, themed “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development”
will take place from April 12-20, 2014, according to the Festival Hue 2014’s
organising board.
It said several troupes even registered independently, including Poland’s OSD
Nadarzyn orchestra, the Vietnam-Norway music exchange project’s SISU percussion
ensemble, and Russia’s Raduga and Smile dance groups.
The organising board has ensured the 2014 umbrella event will continue popular
traditions such as the royal festival, Ao Dai (traditional long dress) festival,
roadshows, and folk festivals.
The Ao Dai show will celebrate the 115th anniversary of Truong Tien Bridge and
Dong Ba Market - the two iconic symbols of Hue - with an integrated fine arts
and contemporary dance programme linked to the Huong (Perfume) River.
The Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade and the Hue
Brewery Co. Ltd have already donated VND5 billion and VND3 billion respectively
to support the festival.
