Ho Chi Minh city set to welcome four millionth foreign tourist
The Ho Chi Minh city (HCMC) Department of Culture, Sports and
Tourism plans to welcome the city's four millionth foreign tourist for the year
in December.
The city is on track to greet 4.1 million foreign tourists in 2013, fulfilling
the year’s target.
The city also plans to associate with the HCMC Tourism Association and airlines
to receive the first foreign tourist group to the southern hub in 2014.
The receiving ceremony will be held in Tan Son Nhat International Airport from
7am-10am on January 1, 2014.
The event is part of activities to promote the city’s tourism in 2014, spreading
the image of a friendly, attractive and safe destination for foreign tourists.
The department has reported that in October, the number of foreign arrivals to
the city reached more than 419,600, bringing the figure over the past ten months
to 3.22 million, 79 percent of the year’s plan.
In spite of a slight increase in number of foreigners to the city (a
year-on-year rise of 4 percent), the number still made up 53 percent of the
total to Vietnam (6.2 million foreigners) during the Jan-Oct period./.
