Tourism week livens up Da Lat resort city
The busy atmosphere is overwhelming every corner of Da Lat in the
Central Highlands province of Lam Dong as the resort city is preparing for a
major culture-tourism event.
As part of the Da Lat Culture-Tourism Week, there will be the fifth Da Lat
Flower Festival and a ceremony to launch the 2014 Central Highlands-Da Lat
National Tourism Year.
The event will also include a ceremony to mark the 120th founding anniversary of
Da Lat, which was built by the French in the late 19th century and is imprinted
with French architecture and culture.
A carnival dedicated to flowers and horticulture – a key economic sector of the
region, will begin the flower festival on December 28.
The event will also feature an art and music performance, highlighting the
diverse culture of ethnic groups living in the Central Highlands region.
An exhibition on the natural beauty and tourist attractions of Da Lat and the
region will also be part of the event.
Stakeholders are undertaking last-minute preparation for the five-day event to
introduce local and foreign visitors to Da Lat – a pretty, graceful and
developing city.
At the Lam Vien square, where the opening and closing ceremonies will take
place, stage setup, sound and lighting are at the final steps. Artists are also
busy with last rehearsals for their official performance.
Streets in the misty city such as Le Dai Hanh and Ho Tung Mau, and areas around
Ong Dao bridge and Xuan Huong lake become more beautiful with thousands of
flower baskets.
The city has also completed the upgrade of many roads and lighting systems while
accelerating environmental protection.
The 2014 National Tourism Year, themed “High Mountains and Thick Forests of the
Central Highlands”, will take place in Lam Dong and other provinces throughout
the following year..
