An ideal place for field trips
On the way from Phan Rang City to Vinh Hy Bay in the central
province of Ninh Thuan lies a coastal village called Khanh Nhon.
The area still has many traces of a 300-year-old village of Cham people, where
one can find a cemetery of Cham Bani people.
Driving on a motorbike hired from a hotel in Phan Rang, I intend to conquer all
the sandy trails to approach a spectacular mountain peak. The path is hard to
ride on, so I leave my bike near a bush and press on with my journey to Cham
Bani Temple.
On the peak it is sizzling hot at noon, but one can have a panoramic view of the
sea and feel strong sea breezes. On the hill side adjacent to the sea, visitors
can see huge coral reefs.
The temple of Cham Bani, which overlooks the immense sea, was built in 2003 but
now it looks like old ruins. Cham people blanket the cobblestones with colorful
clothing accompanied by a censer resembling folks returning from the past.
Khanh Nhon is a perfect place for field trips and cultural expeditions.
