Nearly 11 million tourist arrivals to Mekong Delta in the first 5 months of 2014

According to Mekong Delta Tourism Association, in the first 5 months of 2014, Mekong Delta welcomed nearly 11 million tourist arrivals, increasing by approximately 9% over the same period last year. Of which, international arrivals were 803,700, increasing by nearly 16% over the same period last year. Total tourism receipts reached more than VND 2,566 billion, up 27%.
Tien Giang Province took the lead in attracting international tourists (264,000 international arrivals) while Kien Giang obtained the highest total tourism receipts (VND 647 billion). Strong growth in tourist arrivals has also been seen in the localities of Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, Tien Giang and Long An in recent years.
Mekong Delta Tourism Association has chosen to develop “eco-garden model” for tourism in Phong Dien District (Can Tho) into a typical regional tourism product.
