Thousands of people have reached the historical site of Lam Kinh in Tho Xuan
District in the central province of Thanh Hoa to participate in the annual Lam
Kinh Festival.
The cultural event is celebrating the 596th anniversary of the Lam Son Uprising.
The festival, which started on Monday, is also commemorating national hero Le
Loi who died 581 years ago. Le Loi led the nine-year-long Lam Son uprising
(1418-27) against the Ming rule.
A ritual ceremony featuring playing of drums and offering of a joss stick opened
the event, after stunning acts replicated the glorious uprising and the
coronation of Le Loi in 1428.
Visitors to the festival can learn more about the historical period at an
exhibition of photos, objects and publications about the Lam Son Uprising and Le
Loi.
The festival's agenda also includes several other activities such as traditional
games and folk music performances.
