Vietjet to open flights to Russia’s Vladivostok
Vietnam’s budget airline Vietjet yesterday announced its plan to
launch flights connecting Vladivostok and major destinations in Vietnam as
Hanoi, HCM City, Da Nang, Hue, and Phu Quoc Island.
The announcement was made at a ceremony in Moscow, on the occasion of Party
Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong’s official visit to Russia. The event
welcomed the attendance of top officials of the two nations and representatives
of tourism agencies and VietJet’s partners in Russia.
According to the airline, the flights between Hanoi and Vladivostok will be
launched in May 2015 with three round trips per week. The flight duration per
section is around four hours.
Following the flights from Vladivostok to Vietnam’s cities, Vietjet will connect
the flights to other Southeast countries as Cambodia, Thailand, and Singapore
with the only stop in Vietnam.
It is expected that VietJet’s flights will help boost bilateral tourism and
commercial activities as well as meet the growing travel demand between the two
countries.
Vietjet has also planned to expand its flight network from Vietnam to other
provinces in Russia in the near future.
Vietjet - the first privately-owned airline in Vietnam - is applying the
operation model of a new age airline. With the fleet of 18 Airbus A320 aircraft,
Vietjet currently operates 150 flights per day, transporting eight million
passengers in total so far. The airline covers 28 local and international routes
across the country and the region to Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan,
and Cambodia.
In accordance with its business development plan, the airline will take delivery
of 6-12 Airbus aircraft every year. Vietjet plans to order the world leading
aircraft manufacturers new wide-body aircraft in order to launch international
routes to Europe and expand the flight network across the Asia - Pacific region.
