The central province of Thua Thien - Hue held a ceremony on
December 30 to welcome the 30 millionth tourist in the period of 1994-2014 to
the complex of Hue monuments in Hue city, a UNESCO-recognised World Heritage
site.
The lucky visitor, Dang Dinh Nguyen from Dong Nai province was presented with a
free pass to all relics for two people in 2015, and a gift worth VND 30 million.
On the occasion, Tereshchenko Julia from Russia, the 12 millionth foreign
tourist, was also offered a free pass to all relics for two people for one year
and a gift worth VND 12 million.
The event is considered a highlight since the ancient imperial relic site was
recognised as a World Heritage site in December, 1993.
At the event, the Hue Relic Conservation Centre and Thua Thien-Hue provincial
Tourism Association and the provincial Tourism Association also honoured
outstanding individuals and enterprises, who have made contributions to
preserving and promoting Hue’s heritage value.
According to Director of the Hue Relics Preservation Centre, Phan Thanh Hai, in
2014, the site earned VND139 billion from ticket fees, equivalent to 111.2% of
the yearly target.
In the next year, the locality plans to organise more promotional tourism
activities and offer a greater range of tourism services to attract more
