Japan Culture Days kicks off National Tourism Year
The Japanese Culture Days opened in the central province of Thanh
Hoa on January 6 as the first event of the National Tourism Year 2015.
The six-day event, taking place at the Lam Son Square and Theatre, began with an
exhibition of 67 large-sized photos on Japan’s cultural heritage sites such as
Nakagusuku Castle and the temples of Ninna-ji, Nishiongan-ji, Kofuku-ji, and
Todai-ji.
Thirty Japanese dolls and 50 Yukatas, the country’s traditional pieces of
clothing, are also on display.
Visitors can also enjoy Japanese films and traditional drum and dance
performances while practicing drums and dances on their own.
The Japanese Culture Days is co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and
Tourism’s International Cooperation Department, the Japan Foundation Centre for
Cultural Exchange in Viet Nam, and the Thanh Hoa People’s Committee.
The National Tourism Year 2015, taking the theme of “Connecting World Heritage”,
is slated to be launched in March. It will run throughout the year across Thanh
Hoa and also attract the participation of 15 cities and provinces that house
world heritages, such as Hanoi capital and Phu Tho and Quang Ninh provinces.
Other outstanding events include an international stone sculpture camp in May, a
cuisine festival in June, and other festivals on historical individuals and
events.
