Happiness road in northern Vietnam
There’s a road named Hanh Phuc (Happiness) in Ha Giang Province –
the northernmost point of Vietnam.
During the six years from 1959 to 1965, tens of thousands of youth and workers
from many northern provinces built a 185km road through harsh and rocky terrain
on the Dong Van stone plateau.
After a half of century, the road has gotten a face-lift along with many other
positive changes. It has contributed to socio-economic development, national
security and defence stability, while bringing about a healthy and happier life
for ethnic minority groups.
The legendary road has also gained recognition from Vietnamese people and
international friends. The Dong Van stone plateau recorgnised as the geology
global park by the Global Network of National Geoparks (GGN) in 2010..
