A forgotten island in Phu Yen
The central coast province of Phu Yen is home to multiple scenic
venues and Mai Nha Island is one of them. Called a forgotten or deserted island
by local people, the island is a choice for tourists who are finding a place to
enjoy serenity.
To get to the island, tourists can ride motorbikes along a seaside road from Tuy
Hoa City to An Ninh Dong Fishing Port where they rent a boat for a one-hour trip
to Tien Chau Seaport and then Xuan Dai Bay before heading for the south to Mai
Nha Island. Spectacular views along the way are Ganh Den Light House and Da Dia
Rock Reef - a national landscape of Phu Yen.
Another option for visitors is to traverse to Phuoc Dong Village in An Hai
Commune in Tuy An District and then rent a fishing boat for a 30-minute journey
to Mai Nha Island. It is a memorable experience to get on a bamboo basket for a
short trip to a boat that transports tourists to the island.
On the island, visitors can go swimming, lie leisurely on yellow sand and trek
to the peak of a hill to view a prairie with lots of cactuses, wild trees, and
waves slapping against huge rocks in unique shapes from a far distance.
A young couple and their twin children live on the island. In addition to
fishing, they also sell beverages and fresh fish to visitors to earn a living.
