VNAT introduces source markets of North America, Australia and New Zealand
In the framework of International Travel Expo 2016 (ITE-HCMC
2016), on 9 September 2016, in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam National
Administration of Tourism (VNAT) organized seminars on outbound tourism markets
of North America, Australia and New Zealand.
In his speech, Mr. Ha Van Sieu – Deputy Director General of VNAT emphasized the
importance of market research and called for closer cooperation of business
community, localities and researchers with VNAT in terms of market research and
sharing information for tourism promotion.
At the seminar, the speakers provided useful information about source markets
and also recommended solutions to attract more tourists from these markets to
Viet Nam in the coming time. According to Mr. Oliver Martin from Twenty 31
Consulting (Canada), Viet Nam should focus on visa facilitation, enhancement of
air connectivity and tourism environment. Currently, the lack of direct flights
between Viet Nam and USA, Canada and few direct flights between Viet Nam and
Australia also create barriers to tapping these potential markets.
In 2015, tourist arrivals to Viet Nam from USA, Canada, Australia and New
Zealand achieved 491 thousand, 105 thousand, 303 thousand and 31 thousand,
respectively.
