Vietnam, Japan plan to boost mutual tourism
Top Vietnamese and Japanese tourism officials have made a
commitment to strengthen co-operation between the two countries.
Ngo Hoai Chung, deputy director of the VN National Administration of Tourism, at
a workshop on tourism with Japan.
They discussed strategy to promote tourism and bring more tourists to each
other’s markets during a workshop held on Saturday in Hanoi. Delegates from the
VN National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and the Japan Association of Travel
Agents (JATA) attended the event.
The JATA delegation also visited some destinations in the northern provinces of
Hoa Binh and Lao Cai.
Ngo Hoai Chung, deputy director of the VNAT, said Japan is an important market
for Vietnamese travel companies. VN attends the JATA Tourism Expo annually to
seek cooperation opportunities and introduce Vietnamese tourism.
VN has exempted Japanese tourists from visa requirements since 2004. Chung
expects Japan will soon exempt Vietnamese tourists from visa requirements.
Chung said nearly 500,000 tourists from Japan had visited Vietnam within the
first eight months of 2016. .
