Enhancing adventure tourism management

On 22 September 2016, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism in collaboration with Lam Dong People’s Committee organized conference on adventure tourism management.
The temporary regulation draft on adventure tourism includes processes and procedures to organize and operate adventure tourism activities; conditions of adventure tourism operation; conditions for adventure tourists; responsibility of organizations, tour operators and individuals providing adventure tourism services, etc.
At the conference, the delegates made assessment on current situation and shared experiences of operating adventure tourism activities ensuring safety for tourists and developing adventure tourism as a specific tourism product.
Viet Nam, being endowed with majestic landscapes has great potential for development of various types of adventure tourism such as canoeing, kayaking, horse-riding, trekking, zip-lining, mountain climbing, water sports that attracted an increasing number of tourists, particularly international tourists. On the other hand, adventure tourism activities may cause potential risks for tourists. The temporary regulation to be issued by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism would therefore be an important legal corridor to control over the operation of adventure tourism and facilitate the development of this unique tourism type.
