VNAT works with Chongqing Tourism Administration (China)
On 13 October 2016, Director General of Viet Nam National
Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan had a meeting with
Chongqing Tourism Administration led by Director General Liu Qi.
According to Director General Liu Qi, the number of Vietnamese tourists to
Chongqing in 2015 rose by 108% over 2014; in the first 9 months of 2016, the
number saw a two-fold increase compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, an increasing number of people in Chongqing travelling abroad
has been seen and Viet Nam has become one of their leading destinations. In
first 9 months of this year, visitors from Chongqing to Viet Nam estimated
84,000 arrivals and are forecasted to reach 200,000 arrival by 2017.
The visit of Chongqing delegation aimed to explore more destinations and new
tourism products, and seek closer cooperation with VNAT in information exchange,
solving problems and guaranteeing interests of tourists, Mr. Liu Qi said.
Speaking at the meeting, Director General Nguyen Van Tuan affirmed that Viet Nam
tourism sector focused on providing safe and quality services. He agreed with
the suggestion on establishing bilateral cooperation mechanism with Chongqing
Tourism Administration to exchange information and guarantee interests of
tourists.
China is recognized as one of the most important tourist markets of Viet Nam. In
recent years, Viet Nam annually received around 2 million Chinese arrivals; the
figure is expected to reach 2.7 million arrivals this year. VNAT hoped to
closely work with Chongqing Tourism Administration in tourism promotion to
attract more tourists from China including Chongqing to Viet Nam in the coming
time.
In addition to Nha Trang being a popular destination for Chinese tourists,
Director General Nguyen Van Tuan suggested that Viet Nam has many other
attractive destinations suitable with Chinese tourists such as Phu Quoc Island
with the most beautiful beaches in Viet Nam.
