Ha Noi to host 2016 ca tru festival

Ha Noi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has informed Plan to organize 2016 Ha Noi Ca tru festival. Accordingly, the program will take place on November 11-13.
The festival attracts some young talents at the age of 06-30 years old in Ha Noi City. Some clubs and individuals at the festival are based on activities of art to build some performances. Each individual will perform 20 minutes. Some awards comprise 2 best talents, 4 prizes A, 4 prizes B and 8 consolation prizes. Also, the Organization Board will honour one prize A and one prize B for some best organizations.
The Ha Noi Ca tru festival will be organized to discover some young talents and enhance a propaganda of art to people. Through that, maintaining and developing some intangible cultural heritages of Ca Tru in Ha Noi contributes into the list into the next years.
Ca tru is a complex form of poetry found in the north of Vietnam using lyrics written in traditional Vietnamese poetic forms. Ca tru groups comprise of three performers: a female singer who uses breathing techniques and vibrations to create unique sounds while playing the clappers or striking a wooden box, and two instrumentalists who produce the deep tones of a three-stringed lute and the strong sounds of a ceremonial drum.
Ca tru singing appeared in the north around the 15th century and thrived until the early 20th century. Since then, it has lost popularity to imports of modern recreational forms and cultural activities.
