Tourists increase 15-20 percent during the Tet

Vietnamese travel agents have reported that the number of both domestic and foreign tourists during this year’s Lunar New Year (Tet) 2009 surged by 15-20 percent compared to the same period last year.
The Saigon Travel Company (Saigon tourist) alone welcomed 5,000 domestic tourists and 5,000 foreign tourists to Vietnam by air, land and sea. Nha Trang, Dalat, Phu Quoc and Phan Thiet were among the most popular destinations chosen by tourists.
According to reports by local tourism management boards, the tourism sector currently brings in an average of around VND 15 billion per day. Fee waivers for ferry travel on certain days, and discounts at Vinpearl’s restaurants were highly appreciated by tourists. 15,000 tourists visit Vinpearl’s resorts daily.
