Yen Bai Museum receives 60 antiques
Nong Van Tinh, a Dao ethnic
minority person, in Sat Ngot village, Van Yen District, has recently presented
more than 60 antiques to the Yen Bai Provincial Museum.
The donations included ploughshares, axes, shovels, and hoes, all made of copper
and iron; swords, daggers, and most remarkably a copper drum first found in Yen
Bai Province.
According to Tinh, he and other farmers found the antiques quite by accident
along the right bank of the Red River after storm No. 4 in August 2008.
Most of the antiques date back 2500 to 2800 years ago, and belonged to the Dong
Son Cultural Age. Amazingly preserved, several antiques were fashioned about
4500 years ago.
