Garuda Indonesia to fly Ho Chi Minh City

      Garuda Indonesia Airlines announced that they were considering the opening of direct flights from Jakarta to Ho Chi Minh City. At present passengers between the two countries have to transit at Changri Airport of Singapore.
The airlines’ General Director in Aisa, Iswandi Said, said that they had ordered more Boeing B737-800s and the first one would be delivered mid year. With more aircraft, the airlines project that Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh City can become a direct link.
At present, Garuda Indonesia flies Boeing B737-500s from Jakarta to Ho Chi Minh City, via Singapore. Each week, there are about 70 flights of Vietnam Airlines, Gruda Indonesia, Singapore Airlines, Tiger Airways and Lion Air operating between Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore.
