Festive day for fishing village

      Thousands of visitors converged on Cat Ba island on March 31 for a festival to celebrate the 50th anniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to its fishing village and traditional day for the fisheries sector (April 1).
Addressing the ceremony, State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan asked the fisheries sector to modernise aquatic farming and seafood processing technology, effectively exploit aquatic resources and protect the country’s territorial waters.
On behalf of the State, Ms Doan presented the Independence Order, third class, to the Cat Ba island district Party Committee.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also conferred its Certificate of Merit on 25 collectives and 25 individuals in the fisheries sector in recognition of their outstanding achievements in exemplary role model movements in 2008.
