Artists take flight in exhibit
Dieu Gio (Kite and Wind), a
painting exhibition featuring the themes of childhood memories and human
destiny, is being displayed at the HCM City Fine Arts Association.
The seven participating painters, former students at the Fine Arts College, use
lacquer, oil and glass.
Painter Nguyen Ha Nam, whose paintings are displayed at the event, said each
painting featured a kite even though the image could not be seen in each
painting.
Another artist, Phan Phuong, who expresses his creativity on glass, says he
hopes the material will be used more frequently in interior design. Tran Ngoc
Huyen, who has 28 lacquer paintings exhibited at the event, says she prefers
using lacquer for most of her art works.
Huyen said it was easy for her to express her darker feelings in works such as
Trang Do (Red Moon), Thien (Zen) and Nang (Sunlight).
The works can be seen at the HCM City Fine Arts Association, 218A Pasteur
Street, District 3, through April 6.
