Canadian festival highlights Vietnamese culture
Many Canadian and foreign
students visited the Vietnamese stand at an international cultural festival held
by Algonquin College based in Ottawa, Canada, on April 7.
The stand had many cultural items on display such as kettledrums, gongs,
handicrafts, ceramics and porcelains, and conic hats made from leaves. There
were also various publications on Vietnam and its people.
The festival, the twelfth of its kind, drew the participation of embassy staff
from 20 countries, including Vietnam.
The embassies also put on performances of traditional arts at the event, which
drew enthusiastic response from the audience.
Established in 1967, Algonquin College currently has some 16,000 students,
including many Vietnamese.
