Railway fares to central Vietnam to change
The fare for railway routes
from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to tourist spots in central Vietnam will be
adjusted from June 1, 2009, the Vietnam Railway Corporation announced Tuesday.
The fare for beds on trains from Hanoi and HCMC to tourist destinations in Nghe
An, Quang Binh, Thua Thien-Hue, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces and Da Nang City
will increase by 5 percent, while the fare for soft seats on the trains will
decrease by 5 percent, said Nguyen Huu Tuyen, head of the company’s Transport
Business Department.
Meanwhile, the price of hard-seat tickets for the railway routes will remain
unchanged.
Tuyen added that the fare for routes between Hanoi and HCMC will not change.
However, the company will offer a 3 percent discount for passengers who buy
tickets 30-59 days ahead of the departure date and a 5 percent discount for
those who buy tickets 60 or more days ahead of the departure date.
