Phu Quoc Prison historical site to be restored in 2009

      The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will invest more than VND19 billion in restoring Phu Quoc Prison- a historical site in the southern province of Kien Giang this year.
Phu Quoc prison was used to detain as many as 40,000 soldiers throughout the wars against the French colonists and the American imperialists.
The historical site has deteriorated over the years to the point where it cannot accommodate the massive number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting the site.
