Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir to perform in Hanoi
The Copenhagen Royal Chapel
Choir will perform at the Hanoi Opera House on May 11, according to the Danish
Embassy.
The 45-member choir will present Vietnamese audiences some of the most beautiful
pieces of the choir history.
The programme will start with a song about peace reigns in country and town
called ‘Evening’ by Danish composer Niels La Cour and ‘Trong Com’, a Vietnamese
love folk song.
The main part ranges from Scandinavian songs and folk tunes for spring and
summer to pieces developed by Denmark’s most famous composers such as Carl
Nielsen and Niels W. Gade.
Part of the programme will spotlight a famous piece by great musician Joseph
Haydn and ‘Zadok the Priest’, a piece for choir and full orchestra composed in
1728 by great German musician Georg Frideric Handel.
Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Peter Lysholt Hansen said it is a pleasure to
present Vietnamese audiences some representatives of the oldest European musical
traditions - the Cathedral choirs and their choir schools.
Founded in 1924, the Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir has become of the strongest
Representatives of choir tradition in Europe.
Since 1991, together with conductor Ebbe Munk the choir has undertaken concerts
in leading concert halls, cathedrals and festivals all over the world. In 2002,
the choir received a Grammy in Danish Music Awards.
