Special TV programmes to celebrate the 34th Liberation Day
Vinh Long Province TV (Vinh
Long TV) has introduced special programmes this week to mark the 34th
anniversary of the liberation of South Viet Nam.
Lam Le Dung, director of the station’s Culture and Entertainment Division, said
it would broadcast music shows to celebrate Liberation Day of April 30, 1975.
"Our shows feature popular songs in praise of people and soldiers who devoted
their lives to fight for the country’s liberation," he said.
The highlight will be Mai Mai Mua Xuan (Spring Forever), a variety show staged
by dozens of professional performers in music, dance and theatre who will
feature Vietnamese people’s glorious victories.
It will air in the evening on April 30.
In Tien Giang Province, a movie programme during the day on the province’s TV
station will feature historical stories connected to the province’s liberation.
Filmmakers spent months collecting information and documents from local
historians and witnesses to prepare for their products. They also received
support from the province’s local army forces to film battle scenes.
The programme began last week with Rang Tram Bau, a work produced by the
station’s filmmakers.
The film is about the lives of Tien Giang soldiers, focusing on the local
heroine Doan Thi Nghiep, who fought and died for peace and independence.
The producers use local actors instead of movie stars from HCM City.
"Although our actors are young and unskilled, they look very familiar to local
residents and soldiers of the past. They will be one of the film’s most
attractive elements," said Nguyen Phu Thu, the film’s director.
The country’s leading stations like Viet Nam Television (VTV) and HCM City
Television (HTV) also broadcast reports and live shows featuring the lives of
former soldiers.
Theatre
HCM City’s Tran Huu Trang Theatre will open its special show called Huong Sac
Mua Xuan (Spring Flavour and Colour) tonight, as part of its activities to mark
the anniversary.
Veteran and young cai luong (renovated opera ) artists will sing and dance
together in popular extracts from famous plays, such as Tieng Trong Me Linh (The
Drum of Me Linh), Thai Hau Duong Van Nga (Queen Mother Duong Van Nga) and Khach
San Hao Hoa (Luxury Hotel).
Cai luong stars like Thoai My and Vu Linh will participate in the extracts from
Tieng Trong Me Linh, which portray the sisters Trung Trac and Trung Nhi who are
recognised as the country’s first heroines.
The show will begin at 8.30pm at the Tran Hung Dao Theatre in 136 Tran Hung Dao
Street, District 1.
The city’s Youth Cultural House this week also launched many different cultural
and community activities, attracting several thousand young people every night.
Amateurs, who are students from local universities, have been performing in
historical dramas which highlight the country’s great victory.
