A sharp fall in foreign tourists to Vietnam
The number of international
tourists to Vietnam has sharply declined since the beginning of 2009, according
to reports from the Vietnam Statistics General Department.
The department recently announced that the number of international tourists in
the first 4 months was 1.3 million, down by 18 per cent year on year.
The numbers of tourists from China, South Korea and Japan particularly, fell
against figures from the same time last year.
Visitors to Vietnam for business purposes reduced by 28 per cent and those for
health recovery were down by 20 per cent year on year.
However, there was some good news. According to the reports, more tourists from
several countries, such as the United States, Canada and Australia, have been
seen traveling to Vietnam in the beginning of the year.
