Foreign tourists to Vietnam decline
The number of foreign tourists
visiting Vietnam increased slightly in April, but the number is greatly reduced
for the first four months in comparison to the same period of last year.
The General Department for Tourism said that in April there were more than
305,000 foreign tourists that visited Vietnam, an increase of 0.6 per cent in
comparison to the previous month.
Therefore, in the first four months of this year, more than 1.29 million foreign
tourists visited Vietnam.
However, in comparison to the same period last year, the number is reduced down
to 17.8 per cent.
A representative of the General Department for Tourism said that the global
economic crisis was the main reason that led to the reduction of the tourists to
Vietnam, although the unit has tried its best to attract more tourists to the
country.
The representative also revealed that in May the unit will announce its stimulus
programme to lure more foreign tourists to Vietnam.
