Vietnam’s largest embossment inaugurated
A huge relief work featuring
the historical Dien Bien Phu Victory was inaugurated on May 5 in Dien Bien city.
The work is 58m in length, 6.5m in width, and 0.3m thick, totalling 377sq.m. It
is made of 100 cu.m of blue stone from the central province of Thanh Hoa. The
embossment is placed at the foot of the Victory statue on D1 Hill, in the Dien
Bien Phu historical relic.
The relief work has the meeting of the Politburo when leaders decided to conduct
the Winter Spring and the Dien Bien Phu campaign, people carrying rice to serve
soldiers, soldiers on the day of victory and others.
On the same day, other works of the Dien Bien Phu Victory historical site were
inaugurated.
The Deputy Director of the Dien Bien Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism,
Nguyen Dang Quang, said that the construction of these works began last July at
a cost of VND55 billion to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu
Victory on May 7, 2009.
